Hearts of Oak, one of Ghana’s biggest teams, could be relegated from the Ghana Premier League after the 2023–2024 season.
With three games remaining, Hearts of Oak are two points above the relegation zone. Head coach Abubakar Outtara has emphasized that Hearts of Oak desperately need points to stay in the league.
The Phobians faced Asante Kotoko, their rivals, away from home in Week 31 of the league season, and the game ended awkwardly for the Phobians as they lost 2-0.
Hearts of Oak are currently 14th in the Ghana Premier League rankings following that loss. With three games remaining, FC Samartex 1996 leads by six points, followed by Aduana FC, who jumps up to second place, and Medeama, the reigning champions, in third.
Hearts of Oak have 38 points from 31 games, with nine victories, eleven draws, and eleven losses. The team could enter the red zone if they lose their upcoming game.
They will play Nations FC on Friday, May 31 at the Accra Sports Stadium. The outcome of this game could determine the future of one of Ghana’s most successful teams.
