Hearts of Oak have retained the FA Cup title after beating Bechem United in there final at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday, June 26, 2022.
The Phobians succumbed ten-man Bechem United side to a 2:1 defeat to retain the trophy.
It was striker Emmanuel Avornyo who broke the deadlock for Bechem United in first half by slotting in from a rebound.
In the dying embers of the first half, Caleb Amankwah scored the equaliser for the defending champions from a sumptuous volley.
The two clubs returned from the tunnel to showcase a more beautiful display but Hearts of Oak were dominant, created chances aplenty but were denied the second goal by goalkeeper Abdulai.
Hearts of Oak kept putting pressure on Bechem United until Daniel Afriyie Barnieh scored in the 60th minute to put the Rainbow giants to the lead.
Unfortunately for Bechem United, their marksman Augustine Okrah was sent off in the 68th minute for assaulting the assistant line one. The Bechem United winger head-butted the referee and was shown the exit.
Eventually the game ended 2:1 in favor of Hearts of Oak who had a bad campaign in the Ghana Premier League.
This means that Hearts of Oak have clinched the FA Cup titled for the 12th thus becoming the most successful club in history as far as the FA Cup is concerned.
