Hearts of Oak whipped Dreams FC 2:1 in the S.T Nettey Memorial Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday 24th February, 2019.
Patrick Arthur’s brilliant goal from the spot serve as the only consolation for the Still Believe side as Hearts of Oak defeated them by 2:1 to lift the giant trophy.
Brace from in-form goal poacher Joseph Esso cushioned the Continental Club Masters to clinched the trophy at the expense of the Dawu based lads.
Esso opened the deadlock for the Phobians as early as the ninth minutes to bring his outfit ahead of the “Still Believe” lads. He however doubled the lead with a spectacular volley in the 35th minutes to end the first proceedings of the game.
Dreams FC returned from the break to enjoy an awesome performance but all efforts to get a consolation and probably an equalizer went futile due to the composed defense of the Rainbow giant.
Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Ernest Sowah however fouled Micheal Amissah in the eighteen yard box which the center referee whistled for a penalty. Patrick Arthur brilliantly converted the ball in the 65th minutes to consolidate their supporters at the stadium.
The game became a ding-dong affair as both sides enjoyed a spectacular performance. None of the sides found the net again after Arthur’s consolation. The game ended 2:1 in favour of the Accra based sides.
The victory means Hearts of Oak, under the tutulage of coach Kim Grant, have won 14 matches out of the possible 17 with two draws and a single defeat which was to lower division side Royal FC at Pobiman training grounds.
