Former Hearts of Oak forward, Prince Tagoe has called for a massive shake-up in the club’s playing body, claiming most of the players do not deserve to play for the team.
This comes following the club’s 5:1 defeat to Medeama Sporting Club in week 31 of the Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium last weekend.
Prince Tagoe who once won the league title for Hearts of Oak in 2005 has entreated the management of the club to abrogate the contract of some of the players and loan the rest to pave way for better recruitment.
Speaking on Angel TV, Tagoe stated, “There should be a massive shake-up in the playing body of Hearts of Oak at the end of the 2022/23 season. Yes, because there are a lot of players in the current team who don’t merit wearing the Rainbow jersey.”
The former Ghana international further expressed his reasoning behind this statement, highlighting the fact that Hearts of Oak’s leadership pays the players well but many fail to deliver on the pitch.
After 31 league matches this season, Benjamin York and Caleb Amankwah are Hearts of Oak leading topscorers with four goals each while Kojo Obeng Jnr and Issac Mensah follow with 2 goals each.
With three matches to end the league season, Hearts of Oak currently sit 8th on the Ghana Premier League log with 34 points, two points away from the top.four zone.
The Phobians will face Legon Cities FC in week 32 of the Ghana Premier League at the El Wak Sports Stadium on Sunday, May 28, 2023 before playing Tamale City FC and Berekum Chelsea.
