The Black Stars defeated the Central African Republic on Monday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, showcasing their latest comeback spirit and mental prowess in the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
In their encounter in Bamako, Otoo Addo’s team trailed the Eagles of Mali early on but overcame the deficit to win 2-1.
When Mali scored in that game, most Ghanaians and supporters did not think the Black Stars would win, but they rallied and came back stronger to defeat the Milians, who most pundits labeled as their favorite, possibly on home soil.
The Black Stars were eliminated from the AFCON competition due to a string of subpar plays and individual errors. Ghanaians have very little faith in the team’s ability to recover from a deficit.
But as demonstrated by the team’s performance in the showcase and their traits when things get tough, Otoo Addo’s group is unstoppable once they get going.
Following the game, Otoo Addo complimented the team’s mentality and said that the recent victory was due to the team’s mindset when they went down.
In addition, he asked Ghanaians to be patient with him and his group, as he is currently assembling a squad with a winning mindset.
Jordan Ayew and Fatawu Dauda scored the goals that propelled the Black Stars to the top of the table for the time being.
