Former Black Stars goalkeeper, Richard Kingson has churned out worry over several talks on the Black Stars captaincy issue.
Richard Kingson was named the skippers for the senior national team in the 2010 African Cup of Nations[AFCON] says captaincy does not mean a player will receive more money than the rest of the players and he doesn’t see why players fight over it.
“Sometimes I feel bad and I say ‘why are you fighting on this?’ It is just to differentiate you from us. It is the performance that matters. You can be the captain and sit on the bench,” he told Nathaniel Attoh on Joy Sports Link.

“With this captain’s armband, you don’t take more than anybody [in the Black Stars] in terms of salary and winning bonus. I don’t see the reason why people fight over it. It causes destruction.”
Richard Kingson was asked about how Stephen Appiah got the captaincy even when he was the senior player and he revealed that he offered his support to the former Juventus man.

“We were having a meeting and Appiah was called as a captain and he got up and told them that, I should be the captain because I was the most senior player and I tapped him and said that I will support him.”
