Speaking on Abusua FM as part of his tour to the Ashanti Region, the former president dared anyone to bring out the voice of him saying he will cancel the policy when given the mandate in the forthcoming elections.
He believes the claims that he will abolish the free SHS policy is a deliberate misinformation being speculated by the members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He stated that the free SHS policy started during his tenure as president of the republic and believes it is laughable for anyone to perpetuated that he will cancel a policy he implemented it years ago.
Mr. Mahama added that he will improve the free SHS policy and cancel the Double Track system in his first year by expanding secondary schools and constructing new ones to accommodate new students.
