According to Black Stars defender Baba Rahman, supporters often enquire as to whether he will play for Ghana again.
The 30-year-old has been away from the Black Stars for more than a year. He last played in September 2023 in a qualifying match for the Africa Cup of Nations against the Central African Republic, where he was jeered by some fans.
Rahman’s absence was partially due to the effect of the jeering on him and his family, according to head coach Otto Addo in May 2024.
Rahman has now stated to the BBC that he is amenable to rejoining the national squad when he feels completely prepared.
Abdul Baba Rahman made it clear that he is taking a hiatus from playing for Ghana’s national side, the Black Stars, because of persistent injury concerns.
“Fans are asking me all the time to come back to play for Ghana but I think I need to take care of my health before everything right now. People know about my injury history and it has really been a difficult few years. I just want to enjoy my club football again and then I know my international career will take off again too” he explained.
