Former Ghana Football Association Vice President, George Afriyie has showered praises on Asante Kotoko Executive Chairman, Dr. Kwame Kyei for supporting the team to partook in this season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
The Porcupines qualified for the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time since 2008 but couldn’t make it to the quarter-finals stage after being beaten 2:1 by Zesco United in Zambia yesterday.
Stephen Nyarko’s goal served as the only consolation for the Ghanaian side with Jese Were and Mtonga getting the victory for the Ndola based side at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
The horrific and painful defeat at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium yesterday means the Porcupines are out of the competition after accumulating seven points out of a total of six matches.
However, George Afriyie who was with the Kumasi based side at Ndola and watched the game from the stands alongside Dr. Kwame Kyei believes the Executive Chairman and his management I have done extremely well for letting the team participate in the CAF Confederation Cup even though they couldn’t secured a quarter-final berth.
” I Salute you Dr Kwame Kye for your decision to support Kumasi Asante Kotoko at this crucial stage of Ghana football and its much appreciated by the true football faithfuls.
” Some of us will continue to appreciate your efforts.Better luck next time like your motto says wokum apim apim b3ba”, Afriyie wrote on his official Facebook timeline.
