Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan says he will forever be grateful to Ghana after announcing his retirement from international duties.
The entire Ghana football fraternity were shocked following the sudden decision from the goal poacher, announcing his retirement from international football after fourteen years spell with the national team.
Gyan, 33, whose presence would be needed as Ghana is determined to lift the AFCON trophy for the fifth time after last winning it in 1982 has also asked to be excuse from the AFCON as well.
The former Sunderland forward, however, believes he will forever be grateful to Ghana for giving him the platform at the tender age.
“Thank you Ghana, am forever grateful”, Gyan commented via his official twitter page.
Asamoah Gyan made over 106 appearances for the national team, scoring about 51 goals, surpassing Abedi Pele for the overall national team topscorer.
