Black Stars general captain, Asamoah Gyan says he is very fit and ready for the AFCON 2019 which will be stage in Egypt next month.
The whole of Ghana was under a pandemonium when the 33-year old announced his sudden retirement from the Black Stars, making some Ghanaians unassertive over the country’s determination to lift the trophy for the fifth time after last winning it in 1982.
Hope was restored back in Ghanaians after the former Sunderland forward rescinded his decision to retire from the Black Stars following an intervention by the President of the country, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo.
Gyan has however declared his readiness to fight for the country to achieve it dream of winning the AFCON trophy for the fifth time in Egypt, urging Ghanaians to remember him in prayers for an injury free period as the tournament approaches.
” The only thing I will urge Ghanaians to do is to pray against injuries between now and the time we play the AFCON 2019″, Gyan told Kumasi based Oyerepa FM.
“Between now and when AFCON is played anything can happen because football is a game of contact. For me I am very fit and ready for the tournament so am waiting for 1st June to move to Abu Dhabi”, he continued.
With 28 days for Ghana to play it first game in the tournament, Gyan concluded that, the Black Stars have enough time to prepare for the tournament which is a must win for the West African country.
“We have about 28 days to play our first game, am sure its enough to prepare us for the tourney.
Ghana will be flying to the United Arab Emirates on June 1, 2019 to begin a PRE-AFCON camping with a 29 man list which will later be prune down to 23 for the AFCON.
The Black Stars have been scheduled to engage South Africa and Namibia in friendly during the camping in the United Arab Emirates.
Meanwhile, Asamoah Gyan will be making his seventh AFCON appearance should he make the final squad for the main tournament.
