Kumasi Asante Kotoko talisman Maxwell Baakoh says he is itching to make a return after a long term stress fracture in his right leg.
The speedster aggravated his knee injury during Asante Kotoko final training on a day before their clash against Nkana FC at home in the CAF Confederation Cup.
He was reported to be on the treatment bed of the Porcupine Warriors for close to six months but currently has his stitches removed and ready for assessment in two weeks time to decide when to start a light training.
Baakoh who is itching to make a return to the pitch believes he has to return stronger than before and won’t rush to make a return once the injury is not healed properly.
” I’m itching to return to the pitch but am also taking my time to allow the leg to heal completely before I join the team”, he said.
” It’s normal for me to miss the games because every footballer in my situation would do the same but it pays to take your time and not rush back into the game. I won’t do that, and the medical team would not allow either.
“I have been assured of full strength once the recovery process is over and that’s what I want. I want to return stronger than I was before and we still have a lot of games to play. I hope to be back soon to also contribute my quota to the team”, he concluded.
Baakoh made eight appearance for the Porcupines in the CAF Confederation Cup campaign, scoring two goals.
