Berekum Chelsea forward Stephen Amankona has expressed his readiness to play for Asante Kotoko in the next season’s Ghana Premier league.
Amankona has been heavily linked to the Ghana Premier league heavyweight after explosive performance last season.
Though there were negotiations between Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea, Kyfilla.com understands the talks has halted due to differences in fees.[ads2]
But Amankona who was exceptional in the Berekum Chelsea set-up last season, has expressed his readiness to join Asante Kotoko before the commencement of the 2021/22 league season.
“I am ready and willing to play for Kumasi Asante Kotoko but it is left with the onwards transfer fee. Chelsea wants 30% onwards transfer fee but Kotoko is wants to pay 15%”, Amankona told Fox FM in Kumasi.
“Kotoko is very dear to my heart. I want to come and serve Asanteman. I am very eager to come and play for Kotoko. Personal terms and transfer fee is not a problem for now. I am really pushing for the deal to happen. The faith that Kotoko has in me, I want to come and repay it. Right now, I am only waiting for Nana Yaw Amponsah to call me to come to Kumasi”, he added.[ads3]
Amankona managed to score 11 goals in 28 appearances for Berekum Chelsea in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season.

He was instrumental in Ghana U20 qualification to the 2019 Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Niger.
Amankona was loaned out to Hungarian side MTK Budapest in 2019 but failed to sign on a permanent basis due to contractual disagreement between both clubs.
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko have completed the signings of Maxwell Agyemang, Richmond Lamptey, Clinton Opoku, Samuel Boateng, Augustine Agyapong, Richard Boadu, Stephen Appiah and Isaac Oppong in the ongoing transfer window.[ads5]
