Ghanaian forward Inaki Williams has won his first-ever Copa Del Rey title with his team Athletic Bilbao after they defeated Real Mallorca 4-2 in the championship game through penalty shootouts.
After a fierce match in Seville, Athletic Bilbao defeated Mallorca on penalties to win their 24th Copa del Rey.
Bilbao had gotten to the finals after eliminating Deportivo Alaves, FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in the knockout stages.
Real Mallorca took a 1-0 lead at the end of the first half thanks to a brilliant shot from Dani Rodríguez in the 21st minute.
Oscar Sancet, a Spanish international, expertly tied the score for Athletic Bilbao, keeping their hopes of winning the Copa Del Rey trophy alive by making good use of Nico Williams’ ball.
The game finished in a 1-1 deadlock after the full 90 minutes, including 30 minutes of extra time. As a result, penalties were used to decide the victor. Athletic Bilbao triumphed 4-2 in the penalty shootout.
