Ghanaian forward, Inaki Williams has been named the 2023/2024 La Liga EA Sports African Most Valuable Player (MVP).
The 29-year-old forward won the award following an incredible season in which he scored 12 goals in 34 La Liga games while showcasing extraordinary talent and commitment on the pitch.
In a fierce contest for the accolade, Youssef En-Nesyri of Sevilla FC took third place with 30 points, closely followed by Moroccan international Brahim Diaz of Real Madrid with 37 points. Jonathan Bamba of RC Celta, Bertrand Traore of Villarreal CF, and Hamari Traore of Real Sociedad were among the other significant mentions.
His remarkable score of 46 points, or 24% of the total, demonstrated his impact all season long.
Williams’ exceptional season was recognised by the voting process, which was supervised by a committee of African journalists from 31 nations and fan votes. This further cemented Williams’ standing as a star performer in La Liga.
Williams acknowledged the honour of representing African players in La Liga while expressing gratitude for the accolade during the award ceremony.
“Thank you very much for the acknowledgment. It is an honour to represent all African players in La Liga. I hope to be in contention for this same award next season,” he remarked.
