Ghanaian forward Inaki Williams featured and found the back of the net for Athletico Bilbao 48 hours upon his return from the AFCON as they beat Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey.
Inaki Williams was subbed on to replace Malcom Ares on the 60th minute a few hours after flying to Spain via a private jet after Ghana’s early elimination from the AFCON.
The substitution eventually paid off as he scored in the last minute of the first half of extra time to give Bilbao a 3-2 lead over Barcelona.
Bilbao put the game to bed in the second half of extra time as Inaki Williams assisted his brother Nico Williams after 120 minutes of play to seal a 4-2 victory for Bilbao.
The icing on the cake was the Man of the match award which was given to Inaki Williams for his stellar performance.
Athletico Bilbao have now advanced to the Semi-finals of the Copa Del Rey.
In a post match interview, Inaki Williams reacted to his team’s victory. “We dream of winning this cup. I did not rest after my trip from Ivory Coast. The distance was long, but I wanted to be with my teammates in this match even if I did not play.” Inaki
stated.
