Argentina, the 2022 FIFA World Champions, will not play Ghana in an international friendly in March of this year, despite numerous media reports to the contrary.
The world champions had scheduled two games, including the friendly match, to be played in China.
According to reports, Argentina has replaced Ghana with fierce rival Nigeria and the four-time African champions Cote D’Ivoire as friendly opponents in China.
Nigeria and Cote D’Ivoire have both advanced to the 2023 AFCON quarterfinals, where they will face Angola and the victor of the Mali vs. Burkina Faso match, respectively.
On the other hand Ghana failed to advance from the group stages of the AFCON after a 2-2 draw with Mozambique amassing just 2 points out of 3 games.
