Ace sports administrator and President of the Ghana Rugby Football Union, Herbert Mensah has called for total esteem for women since they contribute greatly to the development of the society.
According to the former Asante Kotoko Chairman, women are capable and can professionally do what men does and therefore needed much respect..
Speaking at a short ceremony held by the Ghana Rugby Football Union on Sunday to celebrate the International Women’s Day, Herbert Mensah stated that the Ghana Rugby is keen on giving women equal opportunities by appointing some to higher positions.
He indicated that recently some members of the Ghana Rugby Football Union have been appointed to higher positions on some committees within Africa Rugby which is a way of promoting gender equality…
“On behalf of Ghana Rugby, we wish all women happy international women’s day….So much significance on the day.. We understand what the struggle has been over the past hundred years…We blieve in womanhood and can professionally do anything men can do….”
He seized the opportunity to expressed appreciation to sponsors for working with the Ghana Rugby Football Union for the past years despite the challenges the devastating coronavirus imposed on businesses.
Mr. Mensah also thanked Sunda International and Pragati International Limited for supporting the Ghana Rugby’s celebration of the International Women’s Day.

“Sunda International stepped in and gave an extraordinary array of sanitary pads, diapers and toiletries to the girls. They were quick to render their support and we say thank you”, Mr. Mensah said…
“Pragati International Limited…. We are very proud of you.. Though the are not into rugby, but it shows clearly that they have great view in respect to women. They made a donation of t-shirts, rice among others … They were very quick to support even though the communication was very late”, he added.
Herbert Mensah was hopeful Sunda International will continue working with the Ghana Rugby Football Union and pleaded withPragati International Limited to come on board for the development of rugby in the country.
Meanwhile this year’s International Women’s Day is under the theme ‘ChooseToChallenge’.
