Member of Parliament for Asewase Constituency in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka is entreating Vice President and the Chairman of the Police Council, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Interior Minister Ambrose Dery and the Attorney General Gloria Akuffo to set up an independent Committee to probe the shooting of seven alleged armed robbers in his Constituency.
According to Alhaji Muntaka the information he has gathered doesn’t add up and it raises a lot of questions.
“This raises a lot of question for me as their MP, the community and Ghanaians at large,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
“The police must come clearer, because their shoot-to-kill approach to handling issues is unacceptable and affecting many people who are considered innocent.”
He indicated that even similar cases in the past have not reached their conclusions as families concerned are yet to come to terms with their losses.
“I know very well that the police can do better than they are doing now.”
He however assured that “I will leave no stone unturned in demanding justice for our lost brothers”.
