Black Stars B and former Inter Allies captain Isaac Twum has described his participation in the 2017 FOX WAFU tournament as a reward to his career, having earned him a contract in Norway.
Isaac Twum captained Maxwell Konadu’s Black Stars B to win the 2017 FOX WAFU tournament staged in Cape Coast, beating Nigeria to emphatic 4-1 score to lift the cup.
Not only did he lead the Ghanaian team to win gold, Twum exhibited exceptional masterclass performance and was voted best player of the tournament.
His outstanding output at the WAFU tournament made him hot cake, with many Ghanaian clubs like Asante Kotoko and league champions Aduana Stars battling clubs from abroad for his signature.
The workaholic midfielder eventually signed for Norwegian side IK Start where he is striving to adapt to the weather, food and the likes.
“After the WAFU tournament that I got this opportunity “, Twum told kyfilla.com in an exclusive interview.
“I am very happy that the work I did in the WAFU has brought me this reward”, he said.
Speaking about acclimatization, Isaac Twum admitted that he is not finding it easy at all but he is much more focused on his game.
“Comparably, things are different here from Ghana, but the only thing I have to do is to focus and forget about the weather, food and the rest so as to keep me going. Honestly the weather condition here (Norway) is not easy, it’s very cold here, we don’t even train outside, the last time we trained outside it wasn’t easy for me but am trying my best “, Twum lamented.
With the Norwegian league yet to start, Isaac Twum stated that his team which is a newly promoted side into the league, are preparing extremely well awaiting the commencement of the league.
Asked whether he eyes a return to the Black Stars squad after his maiden call up, Twum insists that his focus remains on his performance for his club as that is the only way to earn him call ups.
“Talking about the Black Stars, I have been called up once, so I just have to prove and announce my presence by way of performance to attract the coach’s attention. My performance would tell the coach whether or not I deserve a call up”, he said.
