President Akufo-Addo has nominated businessman Abdul Mumin Issah as the Sekondi-Takoradi Mayor.
The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis has been without a mayor following the demise of Anthony KK Sam few months ago.

However, in accordance with the article 243 (1) of the 1992 constitution and section 20 (1) of the Local Government Act, Act 936 has nominated Abdul Mumin Issah for the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis mayor position.
In a letter signed by the Local Government Minister, Hajia Alima Mahama, directed the Regional Minister to see to the confirmation of the nominee who was nominated alongside two others for the Akwapim North Municipality and the Amansie South District.

“In view of the above, Regional Ministers are kindly requested to liaise with the Regional Electoral Commission to conduct the confirmation process for the nominated Chief Executives.”
About Abdul Mumin Issah
Abdul Mumin Issah – a businessman and a core figure in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Western Region is among the names vying for the nod.

He is a former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman for Takoradi Constituency and the owner of a Washing Bay and Laundry Company in Anaji, a suburb of Takoradi.
He also contested for the position of Regional Second Vice Chairman of the NPP in the last regional executive elections but lost.
