Youth and Sports Minister, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah has condemned the violence that broke out at the Berekum Golden City Park during Berekum Chelsea clash against Asante Kotoko in the NC Special Cup.
According to an earlier news yesterday, some Management members of the Porcupine Warriors were attacked at the Golden City Park prior to kickoff.
Dr. Amo Sarpong who is a Policy Analyst for Kumasi Asante Kotoko was physically assaulted by some fans of Berekum Chelsea after the KNUST lecturer fired a gunshots to serve as warning to the angry fans of the home side.
The GFA Disciplinary Committee has placed a temporary ban on the Golden City Park and Dr. Amo Sarpong temporarly banned from all football related activities for firing gunshots at Berekum.
The Sports Minister has however, condemned the incident and has also disclosed that, security would be beef up at the various stadia and Parks to ensure violence-free in the subsequent matches.
” I condemned the violence that took place in Berekum during the special Normalisation Committee match between the home side Chelsea and their guests Asante Kotoko at the Berekum Golden City Park, on 28th April.
” All clubs honouring the competition to eschew Vandalism and any acts of lawlessness.
” The laws of the country and the game would be applied to anyone or club that breaches them without fear or favour.
” Security would be beefed up at the various stadia and parks in the subsequent matches.
