Karela United Football Club’s skipper, William Opoku Mensah was on Sunday 15th July, 2018 awarded by the Wesley Methodist Cathedral Church, Sekondi.
The 20-year old University of Cape Coast graduate received the award for his exploit in the Ghana Premier league for the Nzema based side.
Opoku who came from the bench to score a hat trick for Karela United in their game against Hearts of Oak at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park in April was awarded by the Church for been the outstanding sportsman in the Sekondi locality for his performance against Hearts of Oak in that famous 3-1 win for Karela United Football Club.
Opoku, after receiving the award thanked the elders of the church for the honour done him and promised to do more in his football Career.
He also used the opportunity to advise the upcoming footballers to be discipline, take their training and education serious in order to achieved their aim.
The enterprising winger scored 6 goals for the Aiyinase based club after the end of the first round of the Zylofon Cash Ghana Premier league.
