Kumasi Asante Kotoko triumphed 3-2 over Accra Hearts Of Oak in Ghana’s biggest football clash in the Ghana Premier League.
Both sides renewed their rivalry 14 games into the 2023/2024 Ghana Premier League season at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium with Hearts Of Oak technically playing as the home team.
Kotoko made comeback victory as Hearts Of Oak scored the first goal through a strike from Linda Mtange. Isaac Oppong scored the equalizer for Kotoko in added on time of the first half making the score 1-1 at half time.
In the second half, Kotoko came in stronger to take the lead with Steven Mukwala scoring a brace on the 56th and 74th minutes respectively. The last goal of the game came from Heart Of Oak’s Karikari in added on time leaving the final scoreline at 3-2 in favour of Kotoko.
The game was a defining one for both teams as Hearts Of Oak were looking to get back on track with a good results against their arch rivals considering their poor form and performances this season.
Kotoko on the other hand have a major boost to go ahead and make a case for the Ghana Premier League title.
The outcome of the game puts Kotoko on 7th place with 22 points on the Ghana Premier League table and Hearts Of Oak placing 9th with 16 points.
