Kumasi Asante Kotoko talisman, Maxwell Baakoh has been scheduled to undergo a surgery on Monday in Kumasi, the club have confirmed.
The winger aggravated his knee injury during Asante Kotoko final training on last Friday prior to their clash against Nkana FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
He was reported to be on the treatment bed for close to six months even though he is yet to undergo a surgery.
”We examined him sometime back and found that he had a stress fracture. We also identified that it was hugely manageable. It appears we can no longer manage it now so he has to undergo surgery,” team doctor Christiana Baah told Kotoko Express.
”Baakoh has been playing with pain and that has had a toll on him- that’s on his psyche and his performance. But he would be stronger after the surgery.
”The pain of having to play with an injury would be no more. This would improve his game.”
He joined Asante Kotoko from fellow Premier League side, Karela United and has contributed immensely to the Reds Africa campaign.
