Maxwell Konadu, a former coach of Asante Kotoko, feels that Prosper Narteh Ogum, the team’s current manager, is not to blame for the club’s present problems.
Kotoko has only won one game in eight of its second-round competition matches, and it has only one point from its last six Ghana Premier League games.
Nsoatreman dealt them their most recent blow on Thursday night at Baba Yara Stadium. The Nsoatre-based team, now led by Konadu, surprised the Porcupine Warriors once more by winning 2-1 and securing maximum points.
Fans chanted for coach Prosper Ogum to be fired, putting more and more pressure on the playing group and the technical staff.
After seven losses in nine games as Kotoko loses at home once more
Maxwell Konadu, in response to this after the game, thinks that this isn’t the best course of action at this time.
“I don’t believe it is a coaching issue; when the players play, it is clear that they are afraid. The demands placed on the players appear to put them under additional strain; they lack the character required to play as a Kotoko player, which I believe is their issue. This is the critical moment for the players to have the support of the media and fans. Much pressure from these stakeholders will not help matters; instead, fans should support the technical team and playing body in order to turn things around.”
“The players are not bad; none of them will be a benchwarmer at any GPL club, but they appear to panic when playing.” Coach Maxwell Konadu explained
Kotoko will travel to Dawu for their upcoming GPL game against Dreams FC.
