President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has expressed profound gratitude following his appointment as the 2nd Vice-President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). In a heartfelt message, Okraku described the moment as a wonderful day for Ghana football, marking a significant achievement after years of resilience and growth.
Acknowledging divine providence, he thanked God for the journey thus far and extended special appreciation to former President of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, for his invaluable support. He also lauded Honourable Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, for his guidance and encouragement throughout his leadership journey.
Okraku emphasized that the recognition from CAF was a testament to the trust and confidence reposed in him by the leadership of African football. He pledged to apply himself diligently to support the CAF President and Executive Committee in promoting and developing football across the continent.
The GFA President paid a heartfelt tribute to his family for standing by him through thick and thin, as well as to his colleagues at the Executive Council of the GFA, Ghanaian football actors, and the public for their overwhelming support and goodwill messages.
“As I embark on this new role, I am committed to flying Ghana’s flag high and contributing to the growth and development of African football,” Okraku stated. With humility and the support of all stakeholders, he expressed confidence that Ghana and Africa could achieve even greater heights in football.
