Inter Milan newly signed midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah has promised to return back to the Ghana Senior National team, Black Stars in September when the 2019 AFCON resumes.
After four solid years with self-imposed exile from the Black Stars setup, the scintillating Ghanaian midfield dynamo who has not don the jersey of the national team since 2014 told ESPN that he is sticking to a promise he made to the Black Stars gaffer Kwesi Appiah to avail himself for selection in the upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifier against Kenya in September.
”I have made a promise to come back to the national team in September and am sticking to that”, he said.
”I hope to stay fit and then that will happen because I always say I needed time away to deal with the injuries”, he added.
Asamoah has capped 69 appearances for Ghana since making his debut in 2008 and also represented the country at the 2010 and 2014 World Cups.
His last tournament appearances for Ghana in Brazil four years ago came amidst debate over his best role for the national side but its a subject that he has re-emerged since his move from Juventus to Inter Milan.
Kwadwo Asamoah began his career as a central midfielder and even featured in a more advanced central role for the Black Stars, before being employed largely as a left wing-back at Juventus.
