Residents in Whindo in the Kwesimintsim constituency burnt tyres and blocked the roads on Monday morning to prevent the transportation of the electoral materials for the elections.
According to reporters, this was in protest of bad roads at the community which is a major concern of the residents.[ads2]
It would be recalled that the residents at Whindo in July this year warned that they won’t allow elections to be conducted at the community if the poor roads are not fixed.
And because the roads still remain in a deplorable state, they decided to protest by burning tyres and blocking the roads, preventing the Electoral Commission to transport the electoral materials to the town.[ads3]
But the arrival of the military and the police has restored calm in the community according to reports.
Voting in the community is about to commence as at the time of filing this report.
