Kumawood actor and musician, could be sentenced to five years in prison or fined for his role in a vehicle accident that claimed the life of a three-year-old child according to Martin Kpebu, a private lawyer.
Lil Win was given GH¢50,000 bail with two sureties after being accused of reckless and irresponsible driving.
In an interview with Joy FM, Mr. Kpebu discussed the incident and stated that although fines are usual in these situations, incarceration is a possibility, particularly considering the seriousness of the accident and the 3-year-old’s death.
“Imprisonment is one option for punishment, but most often, fines are assessed. However, incarceration may occur in more serious cases, with a maximum sentence of five years. He underlined the necessity of harsher penalties to discourage careless drivers in Ghana, where more than 2000 people lose their lives in traffic accidents every year.”
In his opinion, a harsher punishment would encourage road safety and send a clear message.
The court has adjourned the trial and hearing of the accident case to June 27 2024.
