[ads1]The children of former president Jerry John Rawlings were given a shock of their lives when the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama failed to show up at a planned meeting.
The children of the late Jerry John Rawlings, reportedly scheduled to meet John Dramani Mahama at his office to officially announce to him the demise of the former president.
A delegation led by Ambassador Victor Gbeho and Colonel (Rtd) Joshua Agbotui were at the NDC’s flagbearer office at 8am as scheduled with Rawlings children namely Zenator, Yaa Asantewaa, Anima and Kimathi Rawlings in attendance.[ads2]
Despite arriving at the John Dramani Mahama’s office on time, the delegation reportedly waited and waited without Mr. Mahama showing up.
It is reported that there was no communication or whatsoever from the office of John Mahama to the delegation who had to return home after an hour of waiting to meet with other guests.
Mr. Rawlings who is the founder of the NDC was pronounced dead on Thursday, November 12, 2020 after battling an illness.
He died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra where he had been receiving treatment after a short illness.
His demise has shook many in the political area and Ghanaians at large especially with few weeks to the 2020 general elections.[ads3]
It has been widely reported that, the leadership of the NDC weren’t happy with the family of Rawlings for announcing the demise of their former leader to the sitting President Akufo-Addo first who they believe had issues with Rawlings.
Some people have the believe that maybe that might be a reason why John Dramani Mahama failed to show up when the family scheduled to officially announce to him the demise of the former president at a meeting.
