Akwasi Oppong-Fosu, the member of Parliament for Amenfi East in the Western Region has said former President, John Dramani Mahama is the right person to lead the NDC in the 2024 polls.[ads2]
According to him, Mr Mahama is only person who can come out with campaign message that will be attractive to floating voters to cast their vote for the NDC to be able to snatch power from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Even though there are personalities like Dr Kwabena Duffuor who some members of the NDC have called upon to contest for the party’s flagbearership position, Akwasi Oppong-Fosu believes John Dramani Mahama stands tall among all the personalities and can return the NDC to power.[ads3]
“The world over, a political party going into a crucial election will first and foremost choose a candidate who can hold the base of the party and secondly put in place strategies to attract floating voters. John Dramani Mahama holds the base of the NDC party and is certainly the best person to lead this crucial election”, Akwasi Oppong-Fosu said on Kessben TV on March 18, 2023.
Meanwhile, Mr Mahama is expected to commence his nationwide campaign tour in the Western Region from March 23-25, 2023.
The campaign is scheduled to start from Wassa East on Thursday, March 23 through to Shama, Ahanta West, Mpohor and end with a mammoth rally at the Sekondi-Takoaradi metropolis where all the five constituencies are expected to converge at Kwesimintsim to welcome the former president.[ads4]
The second day of his tour will take Mr Mahama to all the three constituencies in the Nzema belt and will end the day at Tarkwa.
The final day of his three-day tour will take him to the district capital of Wassa Amenfi West in Asankragua for the final funeral rites of George Dadzie Snr who is a former Council of State member and an NDC stalwart.
Mr Mahama will also meet delegates in Amenfi West immediately after the funeral and will continue his campaign in Amenfi Central and end his campaign in Wassa East before proceeding to the Central region to continue his nationwide campaign.[ads5]
