The National Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Henry Nana Boakye popularly known as Nana B has said the petitioner for the 2020 election petition, John Dramani Mahama should also be in the witness box to testify.
According to Nana B, the former president is the one challenging the verdict at the Supreme Court and need to be in the witness box to testify and not the Electoral Commission chair Jean Mensa.[ads2]
His comment comes after the Supreme Court dismissed the lead counsel of the petitioner to have Ms Jean Mensa in the witness box to testify before the court.
The petitioner has filed a motion to have his case reopened which was initially closed by his legal team before the Supreme Court ruling on whether or not Jean Mensa should mount the witness stand.[ads3]
The lead counsel for the petitioner, Lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata during the court hearing on Thursday told the court to reopen the case in order to have a subpoena on the Electoral Commission chairperson Jean Mensa.
Responding to the petitioner’s request, Nana B stated that John Dramani Mahama who is challenging the verdict of the election should be in the witness box not Jean Mensa..[ads4]
“If there’s anybody to mount the witness box, it should be His Excellency the former President John Dramani Mahama,” he stressed on Peace FM’s ”Kokrokoo”.[ads5]
