The first phase of the tour began in August with a resumption on Tuesday, September 7 in the Bono East Region.
Mr. Mahama came second in the 2020 general elections, losing to sitting President Nana Akufo-Addo who amassed 51.59% of the vote, as announced by the electoral commission.[ads3]
Mr. Mahama accumulated 47.36% of the vote, making Nana Addo the 8th president of the Ghana’s Fourth Republic.
It was the third time that the two astute politicians clashed in a presidential election in the West African country after the 2012 and 2016 elections.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mahama is expected to contest the next elections in 2024 as President Akufo-Addo will no longer partake in the elections after serving his two terms in office.[ads5]
