" Make MTN MoMo most preferred digital payment platform"

Shaibu Haruna, the newly-appointed acting Chief Executive Officer of Mobile Money for MTN has entreated its agents to ensure his outfit becomes the preferred digital payment platform in Ghana.

Speaking at this year’s edition of the MTN South West Business District Awards for MoMo Agents and Merchants at the Best Western Atlantic Hotel in Takoradi on Saturday December 10, Shaibu Haruna stated that customers can make transactions whenever necessary due the support of over 250,000 mobile money agents nationwide.

He said; “our over 200,000 merchants who have accepted MoMo for payments for goods and services have continued to support us towards our commitment to driving a cash-lite economy.”

He disclosed that currently, MTN has about 11.3million mobile money subscribers and it is the efforts these agents who travel the length and breath of the country to grow the subscriber base.[ads2]

He added that; “it is particularly important that as partners in the business we keep engaging and respecting the rules of engagement to succeed.

“The issue of fraud prevention is particularly important in our operations and as partners, we continue to count on your support in educating customers and recording Zero fraud cases in your operations. I am counting on your unwavering support to continue building on the successes and strides we have made in the coming years to make MTN MoMo the most preferred digital payment platform in Ghana.

“As we reflect on our successes and lessons, let us also look ahead, taking into consideration the increasing opportunities mobile money presents to Ghana’s socio-economic development. All of us have a role to play in contributing to the continued success of the MTN MoMo story.”

In all two hundred and seventy five mobile money partners made up two hundred agents, fifty merchants and Twenty five Mobile Money Agents were awarded by the South West Business District of MTN with Samuel Okyere, CEO of Big Joe Ventures in Kasoa Datus in the Central Region picking the ultimate prize of GH 50,000 electronic cash plus a Motorbike from MTN with others also receiving Laptops, cash and mobile phones.
