Ebenezer Aidoo, the manager of brands and marketing of Medeama Sporting Club has urged Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo to honor his promise to provide financial help to the team prior to their CAF Champions League group stage matches.
After winning the 2022/2023 Betpawa Ghana Premier League and presenting their trophy to the Jubilee House, Medeama was guaranteed GHc1 million by the President.
Even though Medeama SC have qualified for the group stage of the CAF Champions League for the first time in the team’s history, President Akufo-Addo is yet give the team the money he promised.
Aidoo is hereby pleading with the President to release the funds to help with their preparations as the group stage games are scheduled to begin later this month.
“We want to thank the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for their support since our campaign in Africa because it has been good.But again, we want to appeal to President Akufo Addo that he promised to offer us Ghc1million when we visited him and we are pleading that he walk the talk.
“We are appealing to the Sports Ministry to ensure we get the money because we need it to prepare for our upcoming games.” he told the media.
“Our travelling expenses and all the arrangement we are putting in place is costing us a lot and so we are appealing to President Akufo Addo to fulfil his promise to us because we need money to compete and compete well in the CAF Champions League,” he furthermore stated.
Medeama will start their CAF Champions League group stage campaign against Al Ahly on November 25 in Cairo after been paired with Al Ahly, Young Africans, and CR Belouizdad in Group D.
Medeama will soon travel to Egypt to prepare for the game.
