Meta is tightening safety measures for teens on its platforms, announcing new restrictions on Instagram that will now extend to Facebook and Messenger.
Teens under 16 will be blocked from using Instagram Live without parental consent and will also need approval to disable a feature that automatically blurs suspected nudity in direct messages.
The update comes as Meta expands its teen account system—first introduced last year on Instagram—to its other platforms. These accounts place users under 18 in default safety settings, allowing parents to set time limits, restrict app usage during certain hours, and monitor who their children are messaging.
