Ghana football legend Mohammed Polo, has called on Otto Addo to resign as Black Stars Coach.
Polo made these remarks following Ghana’s senior national team’s 2-0 loss to Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying round.
After losing to Angola and drawing with Niger in their previous Group F games, the Black Stars were hoping for their first win in the qualifiers. Ghana’s difficulties persisted in the second leg against Sudan at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya, after a goalless draw in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Otto Addo has been under increasing pressure to step down since the loss, and Polo has stated that if he had been in Addo’s shoes, he would have done so by now.
In an interview with Kumasi-based Akoma FM, the 1982 AFCON champion stated, “If I were Otto Addo, I would have resigned by now.” With only two points from four games, the loss puts Ghana in third place in Group F and raises questions about their prospects of making it to the African Cup Of Nations.
In November, the Black Stars will reassemble for their last group games against Angola and Niger.
