According to tragic reports, Thiat Kwabena Gideon, a mobile money (MoMo) vendor in the Central region of Awutu Bereku, committed suicide after embezzling the money belonging to his bosses.
It is said that he consumed poison and died two hours later. Two women and a one-year-old child are left behind by him.
Kwabena Gideon is accused of stealing GHC 16,000 from his boss during the past few weeks.
Uncertainty surrounds the money’s usage; some sources claim it was lost on sports betting or other vices, while Starrfmonline asserts he suffered “losses” from the MoMo company.
Whatever the case, at the Awutu Bereku Police Station, his boss allegedly filed a formal complaint against Kwabena Gideon for stealing his GHC sixteen thousand.
The complaint also states that the employee turned off his cell phone, deleted all of his social media posts, and replaced it with a different phone that was used for MOMO transactions.
Gideon took his own life because he could not handle the accusations leveled against him and he had no way of recovering the money.
