Former Hearts of Oak skipper, Yaw Amankwah Mireku has made a shocking revelation about Ghanaian players and their relationship with local coaches at the national team level.
According to the former Ghana defender, most of the Ghanaian players who travel abroad become indiscipline when there is a local coach in charge of a particular national team.[ads2]
Speaking to Takoradi-based Ahoto FM, Amankwah Mireku stated that these players become more respectful when there is a foreign coach in charge but misbehave towards the local coaches, an attitude he deemed as uncalled for.
Amankwah Mireku was reacting to a question on whether Black Stars coach CK Akonnor should be blamed for the team’s recent abysmal performance.[ads3]
On whether CK Akonnor should be sacked as the Black Stars head coach, Amankwah Mireku said, “footballers make coaches so if players are not performing, it affect the coach so Akonnor shouldn’t be blamed for the team’s abysmal performance.”
He continued that, ” Ghana lack quality players and at the same time consistency. If CK Akonnor is able to keep this current squad for a longer period, they will perform extraordinary, but it will also be disastrous for us if we call the players today and eject them tomorrow for a different squad. “[ads5]
