Telecommunication giant, MTN has on Friday, May 6 donated airtime, drinks, souvenirs and a cash of Gh¢10,000.00 to the Efutu Traditional Council as part of their support towards this year’s Efutu Aboakyer festival in the Central Region.
The Senior Manager for South West Business District of MTN, Prince Owusu Nyarko, who led the delegation to Efutu said the company is happy to support the festival after two years of shelving the celebration of the festival due to the devastating coronavirus.
He said the gesture is a way of reaffirming their relationship with the chiefs and the people of Efutu, and assured the company will continue with its partnership with the authorities of the area on the roadmap to a progressive society.
“It is with great pleasure that we are here to join the Efutu as you celebrate the annual Aboakyir Festival after two years of shelving the celebration of this festival due to COVID-19 pandemic.
“We breathe a sigh of relief as we gradually see some normalcy after two years of COVID-19 restrictions that put all these celebrations on hold. We are extremely happy to see Chiefs and people to reunite as a family, renew friendships and make new ones”, Mr Owusu Nyarko said.
He continued that, “MTN Ghana is happy to join in the celebrations once again. We bring you warm greetings from the Management and staff of MTN. We wish you all well.
“For so many years, we have come to reaffirm our relationship and lend our continuous support to the people of Efutu. Today we have come to support the traditional council in revamping the festivities and rituals after the devasting effect of COVID-19. ”
On what the company will be doing for its customers during the celebration of the festival, Mr Owusu Nyarko disclosed that MTN will provide distinct customer experience by setting up centers to provide customers with an enhanced customer experience as well as registering customers SIM with their Ghana Cards.

“Before I take my seat, we want to use this opportunity to thank the chiefs and people of the Efutu Traditional Area for your continuous support and loyalty to the MTN Brand”, he added.
He concluded by saying “the theme for this years’ celebration, ‘Together we build the road to a progressive society’ cannot be overemphasised since no society can be developed without unity.
“We affirm our unflinching support to Nananom and the people of Efutu on your roadmap to a progressive society.”
The chiefs and people of the Efutu expressed their gratitude to MTN for their show of support and promised to partner with the company to make giant strides in the country’s development.
