Artist Guru NKZ has hinted that he intends to run in the 2024–2025 elections for president of the University of Ghana’s Student Representative Council (SRC).
Guru, who is presently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Political Science and Information Studies at the University of Ghana, has produced music for a while.
In response to some of the most pressing problems the university is currently dealing with, Guru declared his desire to become the SRC President while also acknowledging his political inconsistency.
If he is elected SRC President, some of his plans include installing a Legon television, increasing the number and quality of buses available to students on campus, and introducing recreational activities to help students decompress.
I am a third-year student at the University of Ghana majoring in political science and information studies. I wish to begin there since I have observed the events and the type of leader that the public desires.”
“I’m looking forward to bringing Legon TV, students are tired of the radio station. We should have a Legon TV, the buses on campus are very few, and we need to add more.”
He declared on TV3’s New Day, “That is what I want to do, go for the SRC President.”
“To bring back the euphoria about the University of Ghana and the aura that attracted many students [to dream of being in UG],” declared the musician, who spent three years as a student and witnessed the challenges that modern students face.
The song “Eye nwanwa” by Guru is one of the nominees for the June 1 Telecel Ghana Music Awards’ Best Hiplife song category.
