Mother of the alleged kidnapped Takoradi woman, Agnes Essel has said the police forced her daughter to speak during the investigations..
This comes after the police published that the kidnapped Takoradi woman fake her pregnancy and the kidnapping.
Speaking to Takoradi-based Spice FM, the mother of the victim said the police forced her daughter to confess during the interrogation.[ads2]
She said that, “the police forced my daughter to confess under duress , should told me she couldn’t take the pressure. ”
Background
A 28-year old Josephine Panyin Mensah was allegedly kidnapped on Thursday, September 16, 2021 while going for a routine dawn walk around 5:00AM.
Mrs. Mensah who is said to have been nine-month pregnant was later found in Axim, a miles away from Takoradi without her pregnancy.[ads3]
She was rushed to the Axim Government Hospital and after multiple check ups came with a report that she was never pregnant and there was no signs for her conceiving either.
The Western Regional Minister, Hon. Kwabena Okyere-Darko Mensah came out to say that Josephine Panyin Mensah was never kidnapped and faked her pregnancy.[ads4]
His revelation received a huge backlashes from the Ghanaian populace but the Ghana Police Service later confirmed that indeed Josephine Panyin Mensah was never kidnapped and her pregnancy was fake.
Mrs. Mensah was later declared suspect and three others were arrested for alleged conspiracy but were later granted bail.
Mrs. Mensah was then arraigned before court on Monday, September 27, 2021 but was granted Gh¢50,000.00 bail with two sureties.[ads5]
