Former Sea Lions and Black Princesses player Olivia Anokye has revealed that her mother nearly stopped her from playing football.
The Cordoba CF Feminino midfielder explained that her mother was not in support of her wanting to play football at age ten.

“My mother didn’t want me to play football because she thought I will be rigid like a boy, but my father was in support and encouraged me to continue with my dream”, Anokye told Angel TV.
“All my family members are fat except me but I don’t think it’s the football that’s has made me thin.
Touching at the genesis of her career and how she joined Sea Lions and even the Black Maidens, Anokye said, “I started playing football at age ten with guys at Asafo in Kumasi but Sea Lions saw me when I was playing for Oforikrom Babies in Elmina.

“I had the opportunity to join the Black Maidens when I was at T.I Ahmadiyya. We played a friendly game against the National Under 17 team and coach Allotey saw me and told me to be part of them” she added.
Olivia Anokye was part of the Black Maidens squad that played in the FIFA U-17 Female World Cup in Jordan and also part of the Black Princesses team that participated in the U-20 FIFA World Cup in France.
