Ghana’s Youth and Sports Minister, Honorable Isaac Kwame Asiamah has charged the National Volunteer Agencies in West Africa to deploy an effective monitoring mechanisms.
According to the minister, an effective monitoring mechanisms by the various National Volunteer Agencies across West Africa will maximize the impact of volunteer programs.
He was addressing the 3rd ECOWAS Forum of the National Volunteer Agencies in West Africa at the Erata Hotel in Accra on Monday 22nd July, 2019.
The two-day Forum seeks to harness and mobilize young leaders of various professional backgrounds and commitments for socio-economic development under the theme “Volunteerism for peace and security”
Hon. Asiamah who was opening the forum stated that young people are stakeholders in promoting peace in the sub-region and he is convinced that ECOWAS is on the right path with a worthwhile initiative.
Over sixty participants drawn from national agencies, governments of ECOWAS member States, international parties in the field of volunteering as well as Non Governmental Agencies from member States of the sub-region partook this year’s forum.
