West African Football Academy (WAFA) continued their dominance over Hearts of Oak at Sogakope with a 3:2 victory in the ongoing NC Special Cup.
Jamal Haruna opened the deadlock for the home side as early as the 12th minutes in the cagey encounter which was dubbed ‘ Easter Massacre’ by some faithfuls of the Academy boys.
Captain for the Continental Club Masters, Fatau Mohammed restored parity at the embeds of the first forty-five minutes from a brilliant scoop over goalkeeper Sabi Acquah.
The Rainbow side returned from the recess with enough strength and determination to get the double but all efforts went fruitless as WAFA maintained their composure at the defense.
Sensational Daniel Lomotey finally put the home side ahead with a brilliant strike to the bottom corner which Hearts of Oak’s goalie Richmond Ayi couldn’t stop the ball from entering the net.
The third goal was registered for the home side courtesy centre back, Bortey Acquaye’s powerful header in the 78th minutes.
In just about ten minutes later to the end of the game, Christopher Bonney converted a spot-kick for the Phobians to reduce the deficit.
The victory means the Academy Boys are unbeaten in the Special Competition.
