The member of Parliament for Fomena constituency, Hon. Andrew Amoako Asiamah has revealed the NDC approached him to be in their side in the next Parliament.
According to him, some top officials from the leading opposition party talked to him to join their side in the 8th Parliament but he ignored.[ads2]
“In a way, the NDC had earlier approached me, but I made them aware, and they appreciated where I am coming from,” he said.
“I belong to that house [NPP] and I am going home and I hope I will be welcomed as such,” Mr. Asiamah also said, as he confirmed that he will instead side with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MPs in the next Parliament.
Before the 2020 December polls, Hon. Amoako Asiamah was the incumbent MP for Fomena on the ticket of the NPP but he was defeated in the party’s primaries, an act he deemed as unfair and decided to contest as independent candidate.[ads3]
But speaking to pressmen in Parliament after proceedings, Hon. Amoako Asiamah stated that he has a great affection for the NPP and he is willing to join their side in the 8th Parliament despite the party forcing him out after contesting the Fomena seat as an independent candidate.
“I hope this decision gets the party to get things right. At times certain happenings make us learn the better way because I think these steps not for myself but in a way for the good of the party.”[ads4]
“The party also has to make sure things are done openly and transparently so that if someone is in the party and things do not work out the way he expects, he or she would take it in good faith.”
“Even before the elections, I said I was winning for the party because the party is in my blood and DNA. I don’t have any place to go. I am taking this decision with the prior recognition of my constituents,” Mr. Asiamah said.[ads5]
