Ghanaian sports journalist George Addo Jr. has been named the primary English commentator for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations by New World Television, the official broadcast rights holder.
George will oversee the New World’s custody of the Ivory Coast’s continental centerpiece. He will begin his job as the primary commentator for the AFCON 2023 opening game between Ivory Coast and Guinea-Bissau with ex-Cameroonian international Sébastien Bassong and former Togo captain Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor.
The esteemed Mirror newspaper has named him as one of Ghana’s greatest English commentators ever. Addo Jr.’s worldwide proficiency in the field was demonstrated by his accreditation to cover the UEFA Champions League finals in 2016, 2017, and 2018.
Five prior AFCON tournaments, two European football championships, five UEFA Champions League campaigns, three FIFA World Cup tournaments, and seven Ghana Premier League seasons give the Ghanaian player a wealth of match coverage experience. The noted Sports Journalist said,

The well-known reporter, who joined the BBC World Service from Ghana’s Multimedia Group in early 2023, will look to contribute a wealth of experience to this position, having provided knowledgeable commentary on many important athletic events.
Beginning on Saturday, January 13, 2024, in Abidjan, the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations will run until February 11, 2024.
