Six people were confirmed dead by the Kano State police command on Wednesday in a mosque fire attack that occurred in Gadan village, which is located in the Gezawa Local Government Area.
In a phone interview, Usaini Gumel, the Commissioner of Police, revealed that six of the twenty-four victims of the fire attack passed away on Wednesday night. The police arrested a 38-year-old man, Shafi’u Abubakar, in connection with the incident.
Twenty male worshipers and four female worshippers were injured in the incident, which occurred at a mosque in Gadan village during dawn prayers, according to Mr. Gumel.
At the Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital in Kano, he said that eighteen victims were undergoing treatment at the time six of the victims passed away.
He claimed that the worshippers were set on fire by the suspect, who allegedly started the fire with gasoline.
Shafi’u Abubakar, the suspect, is presently being held by the police, according to Mr. Gumel, who also stated that the attackers motivation is thought to be a family dispute over inheritance distribution.
According to him, the investigation into the case is still ongoing by the command.
