A 24-year-old housewife named Hafsat Surajo has been taken into custody by the Police Command in Kano State on suspicion of fatally stabbing one of her domestic worker, Nafi’u Hafiz.
According to the police, the incident happened in the state’s Taurani Local Government Area at Unguwa Uku. This was confirmed on Friday by Mr. Hussaini Gumel, the Commissioner of Police while speaking to reporters in Kano.
He stated that at approximately 0700 hours on December 21, he received a report from Hafizu Salisu of Bauchi LGA, stating that he was contacted by Daiyanu Abdullahi of Unguwa Uku, Kano, informing him of the death of his brother, Nafi’u Hafiz.
He clarified that upon arriving at Unguwa Uku’s home, the brother saw multiple injuries on various body parts that appeared to be from knife stabs.
The chief police commissioner stated that following an investigation, the main suspect—a housewife named Hafsat Surajo—was apprehended from the deceased’s residence.
According to Gumel, the deceased was stabbed multiple times in his body by the suspect, who admitted to carrying out the crime alone.
“Dayyabu Abdullahi, the husband of the victim, and Malam Adamu, the gateman, were taken into custody for their roles in helping to conceal, package, and hide the body to cover up the culpable homicide,” he said.
Gumel said a discreet investigation led to the recovery of the knife with the blood stain used in committing the crime. He said that following an investigation, the suspect would face charges in court.
